She has just finished her shooting as a battered wife for Deepa Mehta’s ‘Heaven On Earth’ and now, actress PREITY ZINTA is off to Phuket, Thailand with her friends to welcome the new year.
Bold, chirpy, dimpled Preity Zinta is associated with young cinema of Bollywood. The line-up of films in her kitty together places her way ahead of her contemporaries. Her journey to being one of the most successful actresses of today has been extraordinary.
She was born in Shimla, and with a degree in criminal psychology, Zinta began her career as a model, television anchor, and commercial (ad films) actress (she was seen in Lyril (soap) ad film).
Preity got noticed when she figured in the Perk ad which gave her a chance to show acting talent. This fetched her debut role in Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se in 1998 with a guest appearance. For this role she won the Filmfare Sensational Debut Award.
There has been no looking back for the talented Preity ever since who exudes extra ordinary energy in front of the camera.Preity had only one release this year, “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ which bombed at the box-office. Preity will return from her vacation in the second week of January with a clear date diary. Shooting for the film has drained Preity emotionally and she needs a break badly.
“Deepa Mehta and ‘Heaven On Earth’ have proved eye openers for me. But the film was tough on me emotionally. In the month that I was in Toronto, I went out just twice and that too to maintain my sanity. I really need a break now,” says Preity.
“I haven’t said yes to any of the scripts I’ve heard. I’ll take a call when I return from my holiday. But yes, 2007 has been my year of unconventional films. So 2008 will

I hope 2008 will probably be a year of hardcore ‘masala’ movies.:Preity Zinta,
Last year at this time, Preity injured herself during a vacation.I hope 2008 will probably be a year of hardcore ‘masala’ movies."says preity
preity taking a well-earned vacation. After playing, the derelict NRI wife in Deepa Mehra's Heaven On Earth Preity is off to Phuket with her friends to bring in new year.
Preity said that "2007 has been a tough year for me. Not only did I suffer a serious injury it has also been a year of tough challenges for me as an actor.Preity is however quick to point out the film is not only about a battered wife. "It's about all the people who leave India and hope to find paradise abroad, only to be stuck on wretched 16-hour jobs with no happiness or sunshine. I never knew how such marginalized women existed until I played one. Deepa Mehta and Heaven On Earth have proved eye-openers for me. But the film was tough on me emotionally. In the month that I was in Toronto, I went out just twice and that too only to maintain my sanity. I really need a break now."
Preity returns from her vacation in the second week of January with a clear date diary. "I haven't said yes to any of the scripts I've heard. I'll take a call when I return from my holiday. However, since 2007, has been my year of unconventional films. I hope 2008 will probably be a year of hardcore ‘masala’ movies."

Everyone loves Preity Zinta
Actress PREITY ZINTA is one lovely girl. When we visited the sets of Har Pal, recently, Preity was completely at ease-not throwing tantrums, waiting her turn and busy treating herself to some bhel, in the easiest people to work with.”
Says director JAHNU BARUAH. No wonder then that har pal of shooting this film is going to be a memorable one.

Preity Zinta whistles and cheers for SRK
Seems veiling is in for celebrities. Mallika Sherawatwore one last year to dodge the media when she was coming out of the airport in Mumbai from a foreign jaunt. Himesh Reshammiyan too very recently ditched his cap for a Burkha to get into Ajmer Sharif Durgah.Preity tells the story, “I could have seen the movie in the safety and comfort of a multiplex, but to gauge the reaction of the audience, I had to sit among the masses. I went along with my mom and cousin, hidden in a burkha, and because nobody could see me, I was at my buoyant best!”
According to the vivacious actress, in her disguise, she was able to scream, whistle and cheer along with the audience for SRK and his team of women hockey players in the movie.
